U13a Seasons Round Up

08 Sep 2015

At the start of the season and before each match I asked the boys to do their best in every match situation, whether batting bowling or fielding as this would maximise their enjoyment. I also asked for them to encourage and support their team mates. I’m delighted to say that the 13a squad played cricket in the right spirit, respecting the opposition, officials and encouraging their team mates and putting in tremendous effort.

As a result they have all developed and become better cricketers. This culminated in a superb performance against Havant where everyone performed to a high level and we won by ten wickets.

Restricted availability of our three county and district players meant that we never had the luxury of having Freddie, Will and Ben playing in the same match at the same time which was a shame as this would help provide further experience in the team.

Batting: Runs scored Average
Will P 62 62
Ben 38 38
Freddie 50 25
Tristan 44 15

Top run scorer was Muhammad with 64 runs

Bowling:
Marcus Marriott 3 wickets
Following have two wickets – Stewart Jack; Will P; Robbie Peachey; Josh Poole; Alex Marriott; Charlie Glover.

Top wicket taker was Oakley Alexander with 6 wickets including 4 for 10 against a strong Waterlooville team.

The under 13’s is a development squad and our focus has been for them to enjoy their cricket, learn new skills and show improvement from the start to the end of the season. I’m delighted to say all of the boys have achieved this and I would like to congratulate them on their efforts. However, in my opinion, one player has developed significantly and shown a very positive attitude in each game, which has been great to witness. My Managers player of the season goes to Marcus Marriott, well done Marcus. Keep up the good work.

I would like to thank all of the parents and families which have supported the under 13’s and in particular those who have assisted me at matches either scoring or match teas and drinks.
Your help is much appreciated. Finally a specific thank you to Sean who as ever has shown tremendous support to me and the boys
