Match report A nail biting match but another win sees an unbeaten Swans team remain at the top of the league table.
Gosport set a challenging run chase for the Swans ladies, with some big hitters smashing sixes with no chance of being caught, however, the challenge was set and the Swans rose to meet it with all pairs contributing well to take us over the line.
Gosport elected to bat first, the Swans bowlers kept the runs low in the first four with Aimee taking a wicket in the third from a one handed snatch from Mandy. With the second pair in the bowlers kept the runs low again with a wicket taken by the quick work of Gill behind the stumps. The third pair into bat was a turning point and Gosport's Ally came to the crease. Katie and Samuels did what they could to keep her at bay but with small boundaries it was a hard feat. With four boundary sixes smashed, managing to find the gaps and no wickets lost Gosport almost had their ton. A lovely catch from Samuels saw Midge take a wicket in the thirteenth, a few too many extras given with the bowling may have been our downfall but another catch from Mandy and a lovely bowled wicket from Katie on the last ball of the innings helped the cause.
The run chase commenced with Nikki and trac taking the lead, with some difficult bowling to face but managing to do what they could to get the team started. Next in Mandy and Samuels, a nice four off the first ball saw a good start, then a catch at square leg was followed by a no ball which was taken full advantage of and smashed for six. Midge and Katie kept the runs ticking over and Gill batted beautifully, supported well by Roisin. The pressure was still on the final pair to take the game. Aimee and Sooze didn't falter and confidently ticked off the runs required.
