Match report Well what a match to finish the group stage! Nikki winning the toss and electing to field saw a down to the wire run chase for the Swans. Opening the bowling Tracy bowled a brilliant over, resulting in 2 wickets taken. The first saw a mix up in communication from the batters and a run out by some great fielding from Aimee and the second a lovely bowled ball lighting up the stumps. A nice catch from Aimee at cover saw Emma take our third in the 3rd. Some tidy bowling from Roisin, Aimee and Nikki kept the runs low and the skipper bringing back Tracy saw the bails light up once again. A lovely maiden from Aimee and 1 run given from Nikki saw the swans continue to put the pressure on the Sirens. A few boundary 4s increased the runs for the opposition, Tracy taking a catch a mid wicket off Nikki's ball in the 19th saw the last wicket fall and a target set.
The run chase didn't get off to the best start with Aimee and Mash being caught in the first over playing the same shot, a great shot it was, but unfortunately both went straight to the hands of Fran at mid off. With the Sirens fielding exceptionally well they kept the runs low for the Swans with Mandy then falling to a catch at cover. Recovering quickly however with three back to back boundary 4s in the 8th. The bowling was very good from the Sirens and runs were kept to a minimum. With Emma becoming victim to Hollie and Fran in the 11th and 12th things were starting to look worrisome for the swans. With low runs and another wicket lost in the 14th by Samuels attempting to find a way to the boundary but instead reaching the hands of Maddie at deep mid wicket left the last pair of Tracy and Nikki with a job to do. Batting and running well together and with Tracy finding the rope on a couple of occasions saw the Swans over the line. A very close but enjoyable game. Well done all!
