Match report Losing the toss, the Swans were sent to bat. The grass wicket was a pleasant change and Mish scored highly, finding the boundary rope on a few occasions. Katie and Roisin came into bat in pair 2 and Katie came away with a high run score of 19 off 10 balls. Leah made her first appearance for the Swans this season partnering Midge in the 3rd paring. The 9th over saw 2 lost wickets, Midge going for a big boundary 6 which was caught in the deep and Leah playing a shot to mid wicket into the hands of a Foxes fielder. Our third wicket fell in the 12th with a catch at square leg. With Mandy batting lower down the order she finished on a nice 21 runs, losing the one wicket to miscommunication with Samuels resulting in a run out. 4 wickets lost but the Swans set a nice target of 116 for the Foxes to chase.
Midge claimed her first of 3 wickets in the 2nd over with a nice mother/daughter effort with a catch from Katie at deep mid wicket, her second and third came in the 5th by some very good bowling, clipping off stump and a tidy caught and bowled. Mish behind the stumps took a hot potato catch on Nikki's over, claiming Nikki's first of 3. Trac then clipping the top of off stump in the 6th. Roisin claimed the next in the unfortunate way of a hit wicket which saw the first of 2 and an outstanding one handed catch from Mandy at short mid wicket saw our wicket total increase to 9. With the game well out of the Foxes reach the Skipper gave a few overs to the less experienced bowlers and they performed well. Some impressive fielding from Aimee at fine leg saw a direct hit and another from Mandy in the penultimate. Roisin grabbing the final wicket from another great boundary catch from Katie.
Thank you coaches for your continued support- Chis for umpiring and Jake (not impressed with the amount of bowlers used to make scoring more difficult) but a great job as always from him.
