Match report A cracking performance saw us win our first match this year. In the main some good straight bowling kept extras low. Also some electric fielding, particularly from new boy Jim who put in some dives and knock backs, was worthy of our first team. While all bowled balls to be proud of, Sam was perhaps the pick, picking up a deserved wicket but Fin with a maiden and Henry with a double wicket maiden ran him close.
Our batting started confidently with both Henry and Fin finding the boundary. A couple of run outs and a good ball cost us 3 wickets but the boys certainly made a positive contribution scoring 23 runs. Lucas and Charlie lost a wicket first ball but didn’t look back again. Charlie elegantly timed 6 fours and Lucas joined the party with one of his own.. They left the field having collected 38 runs. Next up Sam with the returning Henry joined the fray, both going not out and collecting a brace of fours each in making their 32. Our last pair, George and Jim brought us home in a rush. The first two overs of their partnership saw George rattle 5 fours and the last two had Jim hitting 2 fours and a six. Although a couple of wickets were lost their tally of 58 was the best of the evening.
In the final analysis we were comfortable winners but the most pleasing thing was the improvements that was clear. Well played all.
