Match report The bubble has burst. The pressure to maintain the unbeaten run was shown in this performance where the highest score was 13 and the biggest partnership was 18 for the sixth wicket. The match ended at 5:45 with nearly 25 overs left unused.
Pittman was soon popular with his teammates when he called correctly at the toss on a hot and rather humid day. P & S began well, Jake removing both openers in the first 5 overs with just 20 on the board.
There followed the only major partnership of the match in which former Premier Division batsman Joe Cranch added 78 with dogged assistance from Smith during 25 overs.There followed an alarming collapse when the next six wickets fell for only 26 runs. 124 for 8 looked a formality. However, Lewis and Blomfield added 35 in nine overs for the ninth wicket. When Lewis departed, Blackwood was aggressive in the addition of 12 more runs.
The home spinners took 5 for 45 in their 20 overs. This posed the question of how well the two young visiting slow bowlers would fare. As it happened, it was the young opening bowler Blackwood who made the initial impact, reducing the home team to 47 for 4. The last six wickets were taken by spinners Blomfield and Lewis at a joint cost of 32 runs.
