Match report A nail biting finish that we might have avoided had we managed our game better. However, we certainly can't argue our opponents deserved their last ball win.
The evening started so well with a double wicket maiden from Henry F and a good bit of work from Sam in the field to see three of their bats back in the hutch with a combined score of zero. As we have seen in weeks gone by we then started to watch the extras climb. A great caught and bowled effort from Sam snuffed out a cameo from their number 5 while Oscar's dead eye throw did for their last man. All the while their opener batted with confidence and skill and finished deservedly unbeaten.
With 125 to chase we had to bat well and make good decisions but we were confident at the break. Unfortunately, despite decent contributions from the retiring Jacob and Henry O, along with useful knocks from Henry F and Ryan our thinking wasn't quite there. A scrambled end to the innings with the Wheeler twins running a number of times off the last ball got us closer than might otherwise have been. Something to think on is that we faced 30 dot balls. Had we have not been constantly been trying for the back wall and rather focusing on taking easy 3s it could have been a different story. It requires a completely new mind set, confident calling and backing up - things to work on perhaps......
