Match report With both sides beaten last weekend the fizz had somewhat come out of this fixture but with 3rd place up for grabs and momentum important for tomorrows T20 Semi Final we remained keen to take the bragging rights. A tidy bowling performance, with a mixed fielding one, saw us stay in control of the run rate. Only Stares really made his presence felt. Keiron's parsimonious spell caused plenty of problems helping Matt Williams benefit as the lower middle order had to up the ante and perished to his consistent line and length.
A shower saw us lose 30 minutes and 6 overs of our reply with our target trimmed by 13 runs. Cautiously at first but with increasing fluency, openers Chris and Matt Benfield posted 67 before Chris departed following an uncharacteristic rush of blood to be bowled. He was followed back to the pavilion by his opening partner 7 runs later but that was the last of our casualties as Tom and Jack hurried us home with a flurry of boundaries in the 28th over.
With Hook again winning and Hambledon once more inactive, retaining our current third spot is now our best available finish. While perhaps not the ideal season return it will be a very creditable 2021 set.
