Match report A great night of cricket for our U13s plus guests!!

Team Wheeler v Team Hartridge with Team Hartridge batting first, Elliot H and James C went out to bat first. The first wicket didn't take long to come with Harrison E getting James C out for an LBW then 2 balls later bowling his replacement Rob out. 2 balls later it was nearly a third wicket with Elliot H being caught behind by Tom Rait but 1st ball grace meant he had another life. Lucky for Team Hartridge as Elliot retired on 22 then came back in later to hit another 15 off the last over of the innings. Oscar came in to replace Rob and had a great innings scoring 5 (including 4 over throws) and 2 4s off 1 over, he came back on later to score a big 6 off a no ball plus another couple of 4s. Some good bowling from Henry F (2 wickets) and Harrison M saw Sam, Ollie J and Jacob P out for just a few runs. Henry O came in next and hit some lovely shots eventually retiring on 20. Talitha was in next and scored 20 with a bit of help of some more over throws but with some great batting also, especially towards the end of her time at the crease. Felix was unlucky not be on strike very much but scored 4 off 4 balls. Team Hartridge ended their innings on a huge 167 so it was going to be tough for Team Wheeler as Team Hartridge were going to be fielding with an extra man.

Lenny and Tom came in first, Lenny retiring in just 9 balls, Tom batting very well and finding the boundary regularly before the usual calamity that is him and Harrison E running together, a clear call of no from H (was a run there though) but with Tom's usual super speed to set off left them both at the same end unfortunately ending Tom's innings 3 runs short of his retirement. Good 1st overs from Oscar and Jacob P meant that Harrison M and Tom R were out quickly then in came Elliott E and Henry F who both retired after hitting 6 4s a piece. Jacob and Samuel W were in next, some great shots from both but unfortunately Jacob was bowled by Henry O who had a great 2nd over only going for 1 run. Elliott came back in and hit a 4 on his 2nd ball but then was caught after looking like his next shot was going for a 6 but he hit the ball onto his grill which was then caught by 'safe hands' Jacob P to give Felix a wicket. Henry F also returned hitting a single and a 4 then being bowled by another great ball from Henry O. Lenny and Sam W ended the innings with Lenny scoring 1 run batting left handed then Sam W hitting a great 4 over the heads of the 7 slips (?) to end the innings of Team Wheeler. They finished on 208 so winners on the night but it was a great fun game over all, some questionable fielding at times especially with the use of many, many slips at various times but played in good spirit and everyone contributed well.

Thank you all for a brilliant season especially to everyone who has helped out with teas, clearing up, umpiring, scoring and ferrying the players to everywhere they needed to be. I hope you have all had an enjoyable season, we are looking forward to the next one already. Have a great summer all . . .
