Match report After a cracking batting performance last night we turned in our best bowling and fielding performance of the season this evening.
We didn't have long to wait for our first wicket as their man crashed skipper Elliott to Jacob at square leg where he parried the thunderbolt with one hand and grabbed the rebound with nonchalant ease. Both Elliott and Talitha beat the bat on numerous occasions and although a caught and bowled went missing, Talitha soon got her man with the help of brother Oscar's good catch. And so we continued. Wickets were deservedly shared amongst all the bowlers and catches taken by Henry, Elliott and another by "Buckets" Phillimore. In addition to the highlights, its also worthy of saying we didn't bowl a single wide and our ground work, backing up etc was top notch.
So with a target of less than 3 an over, we set our stall out to chase positively. Henry and Talitha played very tidily, nudging singles almost at will and taking the boundaries as they were offered. While Talitha continued to accumulate Henry took a bit of a liberty trying to force a straight one through the off-side and missed. By this time there was only 10 or so needed and Tom taking his first ball for four got us closer. The end came pretty quickly as Talitha hit her third 4, this time over midwicket, to see us 8 wicket winners with more than half the overs unused.
A very satisfying couple of matches - well done all!
