Match report Against a strong Burridge batting line up we started really well with Henry F getting a wicket 2nd ball, wickets followed for Ollie, Elliot, Felix and Ryan. The two Will’s were both unlucky not to pick up a wicket as Burridge looked to up the run rate. Henry O’H took a great catch and a stumping behind the stumps. Two things we need to work on is bowling straighter as we bowled far more wides than Burridge (14 more) and concentrating more in the field especially backing up. Henry O’H opened up with Ollie and got us off to solid start with Henry looking in good form. Felix and Elliot didn’t really get going due to mix of some good fielding and a few head high no balls they were unable to reach. Ryan and Will H repelled some pretty hostile bowling and kept us on the move but succumbed to quick straight bowling and some impressive glove work. Last pair Henry F and Will P too were troubled by the same combination but Henry chased the game crashing 4 beautifully timed 4s while Will kept his end up offering the strike to his swashbuckling partner.
In the end it was our loss of wickets that saw us beaten. Trying not to push at balls we are defending and trying to remember to keep a foot grounded in the crease when there's a quick 'keeper behind us will pay dividends in future matches. It was a well contested game with some bright cricket on display, well done all.
