Match report So our first run out of the year ended in an exciting win. Winning the toss and opting to bowl we put in a great display in the field . The limited extras in the early part of the innings told of an excellent bowling display. With none of our bowlers being collared, deserving wicket takers were Ollie (a maiden one for the club) and Jacob with one a piece and Henry and Robert two each, the former bowling with lovely flight and the later at good pace. The other bowlers who didn't take wickets were actually our most miserly with the runs as Harrison and the "Stanley Collective" (Felix, Talitha and Oscar) bowled terrific spells. Our ground fielding was good, Ged showed promise in his first effort at keeping wicket outdoors and Jacob and Harrison showed great hand to collect catches for us. Chasing 73 to win we were in with a shout.
Their talented opening bowler was met with a crashing square cut for 4 first ball from Henry but got his man very next ball. Ollie started with confidence but was called through for a non-existent single to be run out. Jacob played a good hand staying in line to the quicker bowlers until he was castled. Ged followed his glove work with a cracking boundary to keep the pot boiling. Robert played the innings of the day hitting 4s all around the ground and it was a surprise when he missed a sweep to be bowled. A lovely flick off his legs got Harrison off the mark but was then beaten to bring Talitha and Felix to get us towards the line as their best bowlers came back. Really positive running from them was finally their downfall as Talitha didn't quite make it home. With 4 needed, last man Oscar marched out and promptly smashed a no-ball through point for a couple then left it to younger bros. Felix to take us home by clipping the ball over extra cover for the winning run. Really well done folks.
