Match report Following much debate wether the game would be on, we arrived at gosport rather surprised at how dry the pitch was. We lost the toss and we’re invited to bat by the hosts. Matt gave us a solid start and looked in good touch with 23, guiding us to 37-1 of 10 overs. However the pick of the batsmen was Sayeed who showed great composure and application which was lacking from the rest of the middle order. Alex and George both showed promise but it wasn’t until Sayeed was joined by Jake that we were able to put on a handy partnership of 37 which really turned the game our way. Jake sensibly guided us to a very decent total of 150.

We always knew that gosport would find it hard to get the runs on a difficult wicket and with the bowlers we had. However it was still a great pleasure to see our quick bowlers run in with pace, accuracy and skill. Jake and Chris started of in great form reducing gosport to 6-5 of 11 overs. Then the champ ripped through gosports middle and lower order to claim his first 5 wicket haul for Portsmouth and Southsea. Gosport were bowled out for 33 of 24 overs and it really highlighted what a talented bowling side we are.

Two friendlies and two resounding wins in pre season. Roll on the league next week.
