Match report What a great way to end the 11b's season. A good win on a beautiful evening with everyone playing a part in our win.
Winning the toss Elliott chose to bat first and we sent Henry and Tom out to face the music. Henry immediately cuffed the first ball for four behind point but not to be outplayed their opening bowler proceeded to whistle the next few balls past Henry's nose! When it was his turn Tom crashed a couple of boundaries through the covers and although Henry was well bowled, the partnership flourished. More runs flowed from Harrison and Talitha's bats. Although the former too was bowled, Talitha found the boundary and was unbeaten. For once the usually swashbuckling Elliott & Jacob could not get going but did keep their wickets intact and picked up singles as they could. Sam and Will also ran pretty well and Will's cover drive for 4 was a text book example. Our last pair, Sid and Felix were left to face their two District bowlers. Sid flipped the first ball for four and Felix yet again found the boundary in elegant fashion, twice.
The confident calling, running and striking were a testament to how far this team has progressed this summer.
With a decent total to hand wickets would help make Purbrook 's job even harder and so it proved. Talitha 's caught & bowled started things for us but excellent catching was also on display from Tom and the sprawling and juggling Harrison. Elliott combined with Harrison for our first run out while Henry's direct hit was a champagne moment. Wickets for Samuel, Will, Talitha and Sid meant even their talented final pair couldn't make sufficient inroads into our total.
Really well played tonight. Thanks for working so hard all year - next year you'll be even better!
