Match report Another good win for the U11Bs. Harrison Milne was skipper today, we lost the toss and Steep sent us in to bat first.

Mixing up the pairs with the more experienced boys pairing some of the newer ones has worked well for us to date so out went Elliott and Jacob to open. They hit some confident shots including 5 fours between them including a brilliant one from Jacob to end their 4 overs in style. The running and calling from them was mainly confident meaning they scored 30 out of the 38 on the board to get P&S off to a good start.

Next pair Ryan and Will had to face quite a few wides and no balls plus a couple of balls went out for 4 byes but they held their nerve and neither got out plus Will hit a superb 4 pushing the score to 70. Harrison and Tristan were in next, there was a bit of a confusion for a run out in their 1st over but they settled after that and Tristan displayed some strong calling and running and Harrison hit a couple of great shots against one of their strongest bowlers. Roman and Sam again faced quite a few wides but also faced another strong bowler, they stayed focused to ensure we kept adding to our total. Steep's fielding and backing up was excellent meaning what would have been sure 4s for many of the batsmen ended up only 1s and 2s.

Last in were Henry and Sid, both batted and ran well throughout their innings leaving us on 128 for 6.

With the new rules in place, Steep started their batting innings on 30 for the 6 wickets they had taken so it's always hard to tell how close the game is going to be but we kept our bowling tight throughout. The wickets were initially slow to come however in spite of starting with 30 Steep were never more than 9 or 10 ahead of us and by the end of the 3rd pair we were level even without adding on our runs we earned for wickets taken.

Elliott took 3 wickets including a double wicket maiden from his 2nd, Henry took 1 helped out with a fantastic catch from our newest team member Tristan and Sid took a wicket plus also a great run out. The fielding was good in the main, something to work on for next time is backing up in the field once the batsman have stopped running, there were a few extra runs scored when the ball missed the bowler or keeper. There were some great stops by Sam and Tristan for what could have been 4s.

The team are going from strength to strength already this season but today special mentions have to go to Will and Jacob for both scoring their first 4s and Jacob for not only opening the batting but for his brilliant running and calling.

A big thank you to both umpires who coached the boys brilliantly throughout, plus both teams who played with a superb attitude.
