Match report The 11Bs finally started their season tonight, and what a way to start with a very exciting victory against our local rivals.

Portsmouth won the toss and chose to bowl first. With quite a few players involved in their first hard ball match, we were perhaps slightly cautious batting, however we only lost 4 wickets in total meaning we finished with a pretty reasonable 80 on the board, 30 of which came from our last pair Ryan Nay (19) and captain, Elliott Etherington (11) who ran and called excellently on the whole but had a moment of confusion which resulted in a run out. There was an impressive 6 from debutant Henry Collins and some confident batting and running from Tom Rait.

Portsmouth got off to a good start batting-wise, in spite of Ryan taking a wicket on the 3rd ball of the innings by the end of the 6th over they had scored 42, which was over half the runs we finished with. We started tightening up our bowling and by the end of the 10th over (a fantastic maiden from Ryan) they only had 45 on the board so we knew a victory was still possible.

We bowled much better in the 2nd half but when the final pair went in they were on 71 so it was looking like a real long shot for us. Our boys, however, held their nerve with Oscar only giving away 1 wide in the next over and taking a wicket. Neko, Elliott and Ryan then took a further 5 wickets between them leaving the visitors with a final score of 59.

A really promising performance from all the boys and great start to the season, well done all!!
