Match report Keiron won the toss on a baking hot day and had no hesitation in batting first. After 22 overs, the scoreboard read 114 for 7. The visitors were in the box seats and a meagre points haul seemed likely for P & S. All the wickets had been catches and most of them kindly donated by the batsman. Only Tom B could have taken much pleasure from his innings.
Ben joined Sayeed and they cautiously achieved a second batting point. Their confidence grew and so did the impetus of the innings. When Ben was bowled, they had both reached their highest scores at the highest level at which they have played. The team had maximum batting points and 163 had been added in 27 overs. Twenty fours and a six had been struck and the running between the wickets had been electric.
They had also allowed most of the bowlers to relax in the shade and save their energy for the second half of the match. Matt B took the first two wickets to make the visitors 39 for 2. Woodall held the innings together, but crucially, no partnership exceeded the 42 between Woodall and Beard. Keiron took three important wickets to make the score 141 for 5 (32 overs)and then brought on Tom B whose occasional leg-spinners quickly reduced OTs to 164 for 8 (37 overs). Despite the efforts of skipper Trodd and a frustrating last wicket partnership of 35 littered with dropped catches and sloppy cricket, victory and maximum points were achieved with 7 overs and 4 balls to spare.
