Match report Champions! And what a way to confirm it.
Requiring 6 points to ensure we couldn't be caught, we were disappointed to be asked to field first for only the second time this year, making it a little more difficult to ensure the points. However the intensity we showed soon had us well in control. A mix up gifted us our first run out but Harry's great work got our second, both within the first over. The introduction of Dan C's spin collected us another brace of wickets when he induced a slap that Harry neatly pouched and then he was quick to a ball to effect another run out. In between Dan T was busy sending down 3 tight sets to keep the pressure turned up. Harry's single over only leaked 3 runs before the returning Harlan swung one through their top gun and tucked up their last man to allow Henry the honour of taking the catch that brought the Championship point.
All that remained was for us to push for the win. By the end of the first over we were over 1/3rd there thanks to Harry's flashing blade. He was back in the hutch within 7 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. The end didn't take too much longer as Ollie hit a six and he and Harlan ran well. The winning runs came thanks to a wide. Many congrats to our young side that certainly exceeded the expectation of pre-season but with a p9 w8 record won't be underestimated again. We will now face the U16 All-Stars Team on Awards Night on the 29th March before picking up our gongs. Keep an eye out for a season's round up in the News section of the site.
