Match report Another one ticked off. Just one to go and still very much in the box seat.
As is our favour, we batted first. Again Harry and Ollie got us off to a flyer with Harry being the first to retire in quick time and Ollie not too far behind. The introduction of more loopy seam up caused us to slow marginally as Harlan was caught behind off the back of the bat and Daniel C mistimed a back wall effort. Daniel T cracked a maximum before being castled. While Henry watched, the returning Harry blitzed away to get back in hutch just 5 or 6 balls later. Ollie couldn't match the fireworks and was taken at point just before Harry's third effort was made brief by a decent catch. Henry then took the last over and with strong running and backing up hustled a few more before he was run out trying to take a very cheeky bye.
In the field Harlan got us off to a good start as their star man initially struggled to get his hitting going. Daniel T was again great in hitting that back of length mark. However, it was the introduction of Dan C that got us rolling. Having been taken for a couple of early sixes he recovered to effect a direct hit run out and then clean up the no.3. He took the next one to fall too as Ollie made a tidy stumping. Harry then took over the mantle of "destroyer in chief" getting one through their second top scorer and calmly feeding a rather scrambling Ollie to win a run out shout. While this left much for the big gun to do, we knew it was still possible (if unlikely). Therefore it was a relief when Harlan followed a cracking yorker and flashing outside edge to complete a good caught & bowled as the ball darted off the roof. That completed a full point win over our closest title rivals. Lets see if we can close it out in a couple of weeks time.
