Match report In a word RUSTY.
Batting first Harry's G & W resumed their prolific partnership and looked at ease. But, after finding the back wall early, HW was juggled and held. Ollie and HG played no risk, running cricket for a while before Harry fell to a caught & bowled one run short of retirement. Harlan then joined Ollie and they continued as they did at 13 level last year. Again there were few alarms - before Harlan put a ball into the net to be caught. Henry was run out late on bringing Ollie back to see us home with Dan. With a score of 140 odd we were confident at half way.
However, if our opponents were generous with extras, we were the perfect hosts, handing back 10 more than the 50 odd they had felt obliged to give us! While there was plenty to forget in our fielding performance (missed run outs, catches, wides etc etc) each bowler landed some good ones with Henry being the hardest to get away. The moment of the match though was Gadders pick up, turn and throw down at the bowlers end to get their no.3 - a carbon copy of the run out he made to win us the league at 13's level a couple of years ago. If we're to do the same at U16's we'll need to blow the cobwebs away pretty soon.....
