Match report With quite a few of the senior players missing tonight we knew that we would have to play well as a team to win, and that we did. We won the toss chose to bat and Ollie and Mani were quickly troubling the scorers until Mani was bowled missing a straight one. Will P unluckily followed. Harlan and Ollie were running well and pushing the score up until Harlan tickled one to the keeper and Ollie retired once again. We then threw a couple of wickets away via run outs leaving us wobbling at 86 for 7 with 9 overs still to bat. But the tail wagged. Henry was initially measured but then seized the moment after being dropped by retiring in quick time with 4, 4, 6 and 6 off consecutive balls. The last two bats Robbie and Tristan managed to hang around long enough to push our total up to 132 by the time we were all out. The only disappointment was we were well short of our allotted 20 overs.
With some short boundaries and a hard and fast outfield we were going to have to bowl and field well to protect our total. The fielding we went on to produce was our best display of the season with several players putting their bodies on the line to save runs. Harlan and Kyle both bowled well and we kept the score right down. Dan, Josh and then Will all kept the score subdued too meaning that they had only scored 41 of their first 10 overs even though we hadnt taken a wicket. The first wicket game via a run out, but then Tristan bowled the No3 and had the next man caught by Kyle. With the overs running out Robbie claimed a wicket thanks to a catch from Dan T and Harlan came back for the final over to claim a wicket for himself.
An excellent team performance, certainly our best fielding performance.
