Match report We Played - it was cold, almost stayed dry - and we won!
Skipper Theo lost the toss and we were put into bat. Debutants Russell and Oliver got us up and running recording a positive scoring partnership. Two more new boys, Alex and Marcus, also protected their wickets well and advanced the score for us. Our third new pairing really got us motoring as Harry particularly (3 fours), but well supported by George (1 four), advanced the score substantially. Ben and Tristram came next to give us our 4th set of new lads with both scoring off the bat. Our innings closed as our last new boy, Stewart and old hand Theo set about the bowling, running really well. Stewart making a great fist of batting hitting a 4 and Theo not far behind with two 4s. We closed on a very creditable 295.
Despite the cold all the bowlers and fielders did really well. Catches for Theo (2) and Russell, who looked a very tidy wicketkeeper, supported the bowlers well. 3 wicket bursts from Tristam and man of the match Stewart (joint top score and best bowling figures), a brace from Harry and one each from Marcus and George made life very difficult for our opposition. Add to that runs outs from Ben/Russell and a top bit of work from George and we ran out deserved winners. Well played both sides. A great start to the season.
