Match report A pleasing start to the Indoor season with victory over Gosport Borough. Unfortunately the opposition were reduced to 5 players as one of their lads suffered an injury and could not continue. Stand out batsmen was Jonty Peach who, opening the batting with Harrison Whitworth, raced away to 27 before retiring, and then on return to the crease, guided Tom Millett at the tail, adding another 11 runs to his total and end the innings with a score of 89.
In the field, the team all played their part, they took their catches, bowled tighter than Gosport and encouraged each other to success. Pick of the bowlers was Ollie Smith who was economical, conceded only 1 wide, and held his nerve to take a couple of wickets at the death of the innings. Special mention to Jonty who did sterling work as wicketkeeper. Well done to the lads, and my thanks to the parents who, at short notice for some, helped ensure we were able to get a team together. Next match will Sun 23 Oct versus Hambledon.
