🏆 2024 Cricket Collective Awards 🏆

Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club shone brightly at the Hampshire Cricket Collective Awards, with two members winning honours and another earning a prestigious nomination. The evening celebrated their outstanding contributions to the club’s growth and success.

Paul ‘Buzzers’ Barsby – Lifetime Achiever Shortlist

Paul “Buzzers” Barsby, shortlisted for the Lifetime Achiever Award, remains a cherished figure at Portsmouth & Southsea CC despite narrowly missing out on the accolade.

As a coach, Buzzers has been instrumental in the club’s transformation, mentoring adult cricketers and integrating juniors into senior teams. His efforts have helped enable the club to field four teams, with around 20 juniors playing every weekend. Beyond coaching, he and his wife, Lesley, have contributed immensely, from running the bar to supporting groundforce days.

Buzzers’ influence extends across Hampshire, enriching countless young cricketers’ lives and epitomising the club’s community spirit. Together, Paul and Lesley are invaluable members of the Portsmouth & Southsea family.

Nik Lucocq – Safe Hands Award Winner

Safeguarding Officer Nik Lucocq was awarded the Safe Hands Award for his unwavering commitment to the club’s welfare.

Nik’s proactive safeguarding measures have ensured a safe and welcoming environment for all. Beyond his formal duties, he has supported junior training, contributed to committee discussions, and played a key role in retaining the club’s ECB Clubmark accreditation.

The club congratulates Nik on this well-earned recognition.

Connor Saunders – Cricket Innovator Award Winner

Connor earned the Cricket Innovator Award for his visionary community engagement and tireless dedication.

Connor’s social media efforts have helped transform the club’s visibility, while his free junior coaching sessions have made cricket accessible to all. His standout initiative, the annual fundraising event “The 40,” has become a cornerstone of the club calendar, helping raise vital funds through partnerships with local businesses.

Connor’s creativity and commitment continue to strengthen ties between the club and the Milton community.
