P and S Adult Selection Policy

06 Jun 2016

Some of you may have noticed we have a few too many players,  which is a lovely problem to have but is still a problem,  We thought we should therefore take the opportune ity to explain the selection policy that we are following when it comes to trying to fit more players than we have places for

  1.  All Players who have payed All In will be offered a Saturday Game as they have effectively pre paid for their cricket
  2. Selection for 1st Team will be purely on Merit with the best eleven picked
  3. Any player dropped from 1st Team will be selected the following week for 2nd Team
  4. 2nd Team picked on Merit with the next best eleven picked, with the proviso that people who are available for 1st team selection take priority over players who don’t want to or turn down the opportunity to play 1st XI cricket
  5. 3rd Team to be picked based on remaining all in players picked first, along with any players dropped from the two’s  and then the remaining places will be shared out, with every attempt made to include any colts wishing to play adult cricket going forward,   with players taking it in turns to have to miss out a game,  these players will be picked for MidWeek fixture where if they choose to play,  the Midweek skipper will make sure they get a decent game

Sorry for the players who have to miss out but as I am sure you understand we are only allowed to pick 33 players each week,  and with no Sunday cricket anymore that option of giving people a weekend game is not available,  Please can we ask therefore that you have consideration for the fellow players of your club,  and if you are not available let the skippers know the weekend before,  with Social Media, and Mobile Phones nowadays there is no excuse for somebody being picked and then clicking unavailable on a Thursday beyond injury or family illness!  - We the Captains have to have some awkward conversations and if they can be avoided by people being honest then all the better

Thanks everyone
