Match report First league game of the season saw the Swans take on the Panthers.
With a player down our very own Jotty stepped up to provide them with their tenth.
After winning the toss, Nikki opted to field first. Midge opened the bowling with a tidy over, then came in Aimee who had those wickets in her sights as she took the bails cleanly off in the second and forth. Midge came back in the third and was reward with a nic off the bat into the hands of Mash. Portchester struggled to get going, facing some excellent bowling and Asha on her Swans debut took the forth leaving the Panthers on 19 after 8. Sooze bowled brilliantly, narrowly missing out on a wicket maiden, and Samuels got a well deserved 2 wickets from an exceptional bowling display. The Swans overall gave away far too many extras but something to focus on in training. A couple of run outs bringing the wickets to 9 for 44.

Into bat, Nikki and Tracy opened, racking up 43, leaving 2 runs for the win. Sooze and Roisin in next took the game well into grasps with Sooze smashing 3 4s back to back and Roisin also finding the boundary on several occasions. Big hitters Midge and Mash in next, saw Portchester pick up their first wicket with Mash smashing the ball square and an exceptional catch from Portchester's Heather. Not to be slowed down though, Mash found the boundary slogging a massive 6. Midge, our top run scorer for the game smashed several boundaries with some well timed shots. Heathers catching skills coming into play again in the sixteenth as Aimee didn't quite get it over the head so saw our Jot take a wicket for the opposition (we won't hold it against her). The runs continued to rack up, Samuels batting confidently in the last pair, Portchester's final wicket coming from fierce Skipper Katie who delivered a fast straight ball that got the better of Mandy.
Excellent and enjoyable first league game of the season.
