Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club W10 Swans v Sarisbury on Sun 11 May 2025 at 13.00
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won by 29 runs

Match report A beautiful sunny day saw the Swans take on Sarisbury in a nail biting match. Sarisbury opting to bat first. With our keeper missing, Trac put on the gloves and did an excellent job for us. Samuels, who on form, took her first of 4 wickets in the second over, demolishing the stumps with a swinging ball. Sooze in the sixth took the second, when the ball narrowly missing the square leg umpire was caught by Katie on the boundary. The swans kept the runs low and Nikki picked up the third wicket with a catch from Mandy, a second was very close with an exceptional dive from Mandy but the ball just toppled out of hand. Mandy on catching form though, took another catch as the ball was skied off Roisin's ball in the eleventh. Chappers in her second over bowled a lovely ball which saw it come straight back into her hands. The fifteenth over saw Samuels pick up 3 Wickets! Two demolishing the stumps and the third, almost making it over Nikki's head at cover but a jump at full stretch meant Samuels had her forth. Midge then picked up one with the help of Mandy's safe hands, and Chappers got her second when the ball was hit high to cover to a waiting Nikki. Samuels on her hat-trick ball and on for her fifer, came in for the final over, narrowly missing the feat, with just 1 run given, bowled an excellent last over. With some outstanding bowling and an excellent fielding performance, the Sirens found it tricky to find the boundary.

A doable run chase, should have seen an easy win for the Swans but with The Sirens having a formidable bowling attack, saw the opening skipper bowled twice by excellent swinging balls and an outstanding catch from Ann, the sirens top fielder to take a third, meant the remaining batters had a job to do. Roisin and Sooze found it difficult to score highly, and a nic off the bat saw our forth wicket fall, with a catch from their keeper. Mandy and Samuels, put in a good effort, with Samuels managing to find the boundary on several occasions, but another three wickets lost in that pair saw the Swans struggling. Midge and Katie worked well, with Midge smashing a big six and the pair finding the boundary on several occasions, losing a wicket, but managing to take the game within grasp. Aimee and Chappers in last to take us over the line, losing two wickets, made for an intense last few overs but both held their nerve and The Swans came out victorious.
Well played all!
