Match report Friday evening saw the Swans embark on other league game, this time against the Sirens. Struggling for numbers saw the Sirens loan a couple of players from Clanfield. One of those being young gun Lily who we knew would be sure to make a difference to the game-she didn't disappoint! Sent out to bat the Sirens struggled against some excellent bowling from our top 3. Tracy opening with only 2 runs given, followed by Midge with a lovely maiden and in true Aimee style of 'anything you can do' bagged herself a wicket maiden with the aid of a catch from Nikki at short mid wicket. The skipper then calling on Midge to bowl another tidy over - with only another 2 runs given - leaving the opening pair departing with no runs scored. Our third wicket came in the form of the quick hands of our wicket keeper Mash, earning Roisin a wicket and the second pair leaving with 12 on the board. Lily was up next and her big hits got the game going for Sarisbury- with a whopping 6 boundaries in her 4 overs - played very well by her partner getting her on strike for the majority of their overs, the swans trying to stop the quick single but not quite succeeding. Happy to see the end of that pair then saw Roisin loop one in onto the top of the stumps in the 14th, Aimee demolishing the middle stump in the 17th and the queen of swing Trac grabbing herself a beautiful double wicket maiden in the 18th with an exceptional bowling performance.
Aimee opened the batting nicely finding the boundary twice in the first over but our first wicket fell by a shot played into the hands of Lily. Sarisbury bowled very well but Mandy found the boundary in the 3rd with a massive hit clearing the rope with ease. The runs ticked over nicely for the swans with our final lost wickets coming in the 5th and 7th with both Midge and Mash being caught by the Sirens keeper. Mish aka 'legs' smashed the 9th over with a massive 21 off 5. Leaving the final pair Nikki and Trac to see out the fast bowling of Lily and Sarisburys Holly.
Another fine performance all round. Well done all.
