Match report A beautiful hot, sunny day saw the Swans kick start their league campaign.
Nikki won the toss and elected to field. Midge opened the bowling and bowled very tidily and our first wicket being taken in the 1st by a great direct hit from Samuels. Two more came from Misha behind the stumps who's long legs made up the necessary ground. In the 9th and 10th saw us continue to take wickets when Roisin's tempting ball was hit to the hands of Aimee and Nikki clean bowled the next. The 10th would have seen 2 wickets fall but somehow the bails managed to hold on to the stumps!! Aimee got in on the action bowling another and Portchester finished 263-7
Aimee started our run chase as we meant to go on with a nice 4 off the first ball of the over and the pair kept the runs ticking along nicely. Portchester got their first wicket by a lovely ball in the 2nd, but the pair got us off to a fantastic start racking up 29. Some lovely shots played by the next pair but Portchester's bowling kept the big hitting Mandy at bay. Midge and Samuels continued to increase the runs at a steady pace, losing 1 wicket in the 12th but the 4s were flowing. On form Skipper Katie returned to claim 2 more wickets in the 16th bowling Roisin but it wasn't enough to secure them the victory and the final 2 batters racked up a nice 35 to finish the game.
