Match report In a heart-breaking encounter, Calmore clinched a nail-biting 1-run victory over the Mighty 3’s Team. Batting first, Calmore Sports posted a formidable total of 242 for 2 in their allotted 45 overs. Their innings began rather subdued, anchored by the disciplined knocks of openers Varad Keni (38 off 78 balls) and Mike Cotton (36 off 72 balls), who laid a solid foundation with an 85-run partnership. The momentum shifted dramatically with an explosive and unbeaten 3rd-wicket stand between Sam Dempster (54* off 56 balls) and the ever-smiling Max Rovetto (85* off 64 balls), catapulting the team to a competitive score. It was a frustrating innings for the P&S fielders, with numerous half-chances falling into gaps and considerable time spent hunting for balls in the picturesque scenery that encircled the pitch. Despite breakthroughs from P&S bowlers Keiron Dunstan (1 for 31) and Connor Saunders (1 for 40), they couldn't contain the late onslaught.

Chasing 243, P&S’s innings revolved around a brilliant century by an injured Jake Peach, who scored a heroic 113 off 136 balls. His valiant effort was bolstered by significant contributions from the young and impressive Elliot Athawes (36 off 48 balls) and Sesh Nadathur (21 off 27 balls). Needing 11 from the final over, Peach did his utmost to edge closer but was heartbreakingly run out while pushing for the third run, which would have tied the game, leaving just one needed from the final ball. Continuing his gritty form, Ben Hallatt, unfortunately, middled the last ball straight to the bowler and was run out. Of all the times we needed an edge from Ben’s batting! The P&S innings concluded at 241 for 8. The Calmore Sports bowlers, notably Mitchell Parker (1 for 33) and Iqrar Mohammad (1 for 33), along with crucial wickets from Paul Henry (2 for 48), kept the pressure on. Late, pivotal run-outs, including two by Varad Keni, sealed the tight victory for Calmore Sports 3rd Team.

MVP – Battling with grit, Jake Peach batted superbly and, on another day, would have won us that game.

DOTD – Let's not dwell on the skipper's performance in the field; still struggling to walk because of it.

Shot of the Day – Young Elliot clipping off his legs for 4, a stroke of pure class.

Champagne Moment – That man Elliot again, pulling ferociously to hit his first 6 for the 3’s at just 14. A crunching shot.
