Match report This match mattered greatly to both teams for different reasons. Gosport got off to a good start, the first ten overs bringing 64 for 1. One run later, Ollie Lunt, the Australian mishit a drive at Ben and Felix took a good catch. This acted as a brake on the visitors’ innings. Max and Ben shared 12 overs in which only 25 runs were scored. With Jake still unable to bowl, Matt stepped up to bowl the 23rd over and, bowling off spin, produced an excellent ten over spell. Jono and Felix took three more wickets as Gosport reached 166 for nine in the 48th over. From the last 19 deliveries they added 25 thanks to the enterprise of Prathapasinghe.
P & S also began well through the contrasting approaches of Felix and Matt. The compiled 63 before Matt was leg before sweeping. Felix and Dean added 27 before two wickets fell for one run. Ned settled quickly and 44 were added in 12 overs. Ollie replaced Felix and another 44 partnership in seven overs took the total to 179 at which point Ollie perished to one that didn’t bounce much. Tom hit the winning boundary with nine overs to spare, but Ned took the batting honours.
Langley Manor also gleaned 21 points and remain in second place, 0.33 points ahead of P & S with two games left to play.
