Match report The winning run was extended to four matches after Sway had collapsed from a position of much strength. They had won the toss and chosen to bat first on the palest St James’s pitch seen so far this season. That decision was totally vindicated when after 31 overs, the scoreboard showed 136 for one. That was the high point of the innings as Ben and Max reduced Sway to 157 for 8 with ten overs left. Burton and Marshall then added 21, only the third double figure partnership of the innings, but it gave the visiting bowlers hope.
The accuracy of the Sway opening attack caused a tentative start for the home side and when Bernard had Jack caught at cover the score was 49 for 3 from 15 overs. There was a lot of hard work ahead against the four pronged seam attack, but 62 were added for the fourth wicket in 11 overs by the contrasting partnership of Ewen and Usman.
Ollie joined Ewen at 111 for four and they were much troubled by Grasham’s left arm attack. However, the breakthrough never materialised and twelve runs from Bernard’s ninth over more or less settled the outcome. Maximum points were achieved thus moving P & S past Langley Manor into 2nd place.
