Match report A rain free Saturday with the temperature above 20 degrees enabled P & S to record the highest total in Division 2 after Ben won the toss. Conditions were drier than the previous Saturday and that allowed the batsmen to play with more freedom from the start.
Ewen and Matt compiled an opening partnership of 70 in 15 overs before three wickets fell for the addition of only 18 runs. At this point, Ollie joined Ewen to create the highest stand of the match, an enterprising 68 in 14 overs. Tom and Dean made useful contributions before Jake and Ben added an unbeaten 40 from the last six overs.
The visitors’ reply never looked like threatening an away win and they were 23 for 3 before the first bowling change. Max dismissed Carter and then a strangely subdued innings from the usually dangerous Hammond was terminated by Matt’s slip catch off Ewen’s left arm spin. At 45 for 6 the game was up but the best partnership of the innings (28) between Butt and Pradhan took the total to 73 for 7. Usman registered his first two Southern League wickets to finish the match.
