Match report 2nd round of the cup and Sam won the toss and elected to bat. Jacob soon returned to the pavilion after getting a snorter from their opener 2nd ball. Things went from bad to worse when Elliot cracked one back at the bowler in the 2nd over and Sam was out for 0 after the bowler deflected with his foot onto the stumps. Luckily Elliot played a classy knock on a really difficult pitch and retired 35 not out. The rest of the boys all added something whilst the Hambledon bowlers helped us out with some very wayward bowling. In the end on a pitch keeping low, 111 looked a decent total. So it turned out as under instructions to bowl straight and let the pitch do the work, Elliot delivered in the first over with a wicket with his third ball. Ryan did the same in his first over, snagging their gun bat with a good catch from Louie. When Elliot took another with his second over we were well on top and turning the screw. Oscar kept it tight with two strong overs and MoM Elliot grabbed a third to make it ours to lose. The skipper then came on to bowl some spin and had a wicket with his third ball via a good catch running backwards by his brother. He then turned one square next ball to snaffle the new batsman. He couldn’t get the Hat-trick but Indie came on to clean up the tail and ensure that P&S move onto the quarter final and a date with Compton and Chandlers Ford. Well played lads a really good effort today.
