Match report Langley Manor posed a much greater threat than the two previous opponents. This we knew from last season when they were runners up in Division 3 and beat P & S on their ground.
Ben won the toss and chose to bat first. A reasonable total was achieved but many dot balls were needed to rebuild the innings at several stages. Only two partnerships of substance evolved: 44 for the third wicket between Jack and Ewen; and 57 for the sixth wicket between Tom and Dean. When Max was caught on the boundary, the scoreboard read 180 for 8. Only 20 balls remained. Jono faced 16 of them and plundered 30 runs, giving the attack something to bowl at.
Budd and Browne were one of the best opening partnerships last season and they got their side off to a solid start, reaching 43 before being parted in the 13th over. The next 20 overs saw Budd and Harris add 96 before Budd’s thirst for runs was quenched. Harris made sure of a Langley Manor Victory with useful help from Doubell.
Jono followed his batting success with his best bowling of the season so far.
