Match report An interesting night which looks like we were way off the pace but actually the difference really comes down to confidence and attitude. We are such a nice, laid back bunch we sometimes need to find our competitive edge and buzz. Their strong batters biffed all comers to the short boundaries but if we could have got to two or three potentially catchable chances it could have meant a significantly lower target to chase. In truth our bowling was consistent with Gully and Tom bowling swinging bats and Owen taking a good catch in the deep after Josh had tempted another big hit. At half way I felt we had a chance and 4 balls in we up with the rate with Ryan taking 8 runs. Unfortunately an attempted single off the last ball saw Owen run out without facing. We lost Ned and Ryan similarly so it was left to Gully and Indie to rebuild which they did well. Indie stroked a couple of neat 4s before picking out safe hands at point and Gully was got first ball after drinks by a searing yorker. That left Josh and Tom to see off their quickest lads. Josh kept out all the straight ones and Tom, demonstrating excellent game sense with positive running and shot selection, kept us moving forward. A late cut from Tom was undoubtedly the shot of the day. However, the mountain was just to steep a climb and we ended well short. With just a bit more energy in our fielding and running I am sure we can win fixtures like this. Next time eh?
