Match report Good news we scored 252 for 4 with an excellent 100 from Clem - Bad news we failed to defend it!
Built around Clem's first 100 of the year we blitzed our way to a score we should have defended. All batters got a start and the Skipper got his first 2nd team 50 - only a season and a half in the making! Clem mixed watchful defence with many cracking shots - the extra cover 6 is in the running for shot of the year. After a 120 2nd wkt partnership Ryan came in and again showed great game awareness to help Clem see us to tea.
The track was a belter and we knew we had to bowl dots to win. Sadly too many 4 balls were served up. Alex was the pick of the bowlers but very unlucky, both Matt and Jamie were quick but too many short balls were on offer. Even the spin twins Kes and Ryan couldn't really put the breaks on with their openers looking solid. Drinks bought some respite as Lex plucked a cracking catch off Kes to get rid of their stylish opener. This bought another class bat to the crease who helped them continue to punish us. When he perished to the deserving Rippin who bowled a spell full of venon all was already lost. Had we have got into them earlier we would have had a real chance. All chances of promotion gone we can enjoy the end of the season and look forward to a better shot at it next year.
