Match report A couple of minutes before 2 O’Clock the scoreboard showed Purbrook on 85 for 3 with 26 overs to go, totally justifying their decision to bat first. What followed was a procession where seven wickets were lost or given away in the addition of only 22 runs. The main beneficiaries were Ben and Keiron who shared five wickets before the opening bowlers returned to remove the last two.
The visitors’ reply did not begin well and stood at 21 for two after 8 overs during a good spell from Amis. Jack was soon into his stride and with Matt, added 77 before being given leg before. This left 28 overs in which to score two runs.
So this remarkable run has now reached 9 consecutive league wins with every other team in the division being beaten once. The records on the website go back as far as 2006 and since then, the previous best run was 5 wins in 2017 in Hampshire 1 which puts the current success into perspective.
