Match report P & S maintained their 100% record and top of the table position, but it was not all plain sailing. Basingstoke won the toss and chose to field. Their opening bowlers met with early success and were kept on until their maximum allowed quota had been reached. So after 20 overs the score stood at 29 for 3. Much work was needed to reach a defendable total. By the 23rd over, the scoring rate had reached two per over. Alex was mainly responsible for this, but in the next over he was caught at mid wicket. When Sayeed was caught at slip the score stood at 63 for 5 in the 26th over.
Max and Ben added 25 in 8 overs. Max departed at 88 for 6 and Dean followed him eight runs later. Ben and Jake then added 21 in two overs. Jono joined Ben with the score on 117 for 8 with almost nine overs to go. Their partnership produced 30 hugely valuable runs in four overs.
Having made vital contributions with the bat, Jake and Jono set about the visitors with some relish. After nine overs, Basingstoke were 19 for 6 and the match was gone. Jake had accounted for five and not surprisingly, Ben allowed him to bowl his full quota in one spell. By the end of the match (at 5pm) he had captured two more victims to record an outstanding 7 for 17.
With 21 overs bowled, Keiron was introduced to the attack. His second delivery was hit straight back at him and he took a smart catch to round off a 98 run win.
