Match report A depleted Trojans team won the toss and batted. The weather forecast predicted some rain around four o’clock. It arrived at 14:13 when four wickets had fallen.
Bohme and stand-in skipper Boyd opened steadily and saw off Jake and Jono while scoring 26 from 11 overs. Their partnership continued against the two Matts until the seventeenth over when Bohme was caught behind by Chris (another stand-in). The opening partnership had been worth 48. Boyd and Aspinall perished for the addition of just five runs. This united brothers Agha and Mahmood who added 46 for the fourth wicket. Five more wickets fell for only 11 runs leaving the score on 100 for eight with five overs to go. Farid and Chance ensured that all the overs were used and denied the home side a fifth bowling point, but were perhaps over-cautious.
The target of 113 meant that three runs an over would be sufficient for victory. After Matt was caught low down at mid off, Shaun and Chris put on 48 in 12 overs before Chris departed at 58. Jack then scored twenty before he faced a dot ball. In the meantime, Shaun had reached his fifty at a run a ball before being caught. Tom then accompanied Jack past the target with 16.5 overs remaining.
That only one shower interrupted the match was a great relief. Only twelve minutes were lost which was small beer compared to our experience of May. Promotion is still possible. Both Hook and Gosport (with 2 balls to spare) won so we remain in fourth place.
