Match report After looking at a slightly damp and green pitch, the home side decided to field first and were rewarded with Olli’s wicket with the score on 11 from five overs. Tom joined his brother and together they grew in confidence while adding 105 in 19 overs. This set up the opportunity to reach maximum batting points and put the home team under pressure. After Matt’s excellent innings ended, Jack and Tom shared six overs while furthering the score by 31. Max joined Jack at 189 for 5 with four overs to go. Jack was caught on the boundary looking to hit a six with four balls remaining and the score on 211. Max hit boundaries from two of them to set up a challenging target.
It did not take Jake and Jono long to find their line and length and by the seventh over Langley Manor were 9 for 3. The three included Jack Budd, scorer of two centuries already this season. A weak drive gave Keiron the fourth wicket at which point 198 were needed from 26 overs. This target was never really attempted as Langley Manor seemed more concerned with denying the visitors bowling points at the expense of accruing batting points. However, Purcell and Garner did add 77 for the fifth wicket, but the last eight overs yielded only 36 for the loss of two more wickets from consecutive balls from Max.
