Match report The last time we won at Trojans was in 2009. Since then we have visited them five times. One was abandoned and was our best result there. Trojans have some good players, but usually have team members who don’t bowl and bat low in the order. In this match there was only one such player.
Batting conditions seemed difficult early on, but the dramatic damage occurred when 110 for 6 became 110 for 9 in the space of four deliveries from the gentle pace of Agha. Earlier, his brother, Mahmood, also took three wickets with his equally gentle pace. This changed the visitors’ score from 36 for 1 to 61 for four in the space of seven overs.
Once Alex was out, Dean tried manfully to extend the innings. He and Keiron added 26 in 28 balls before Graves returned to end the innings.
136 seemed insufficient and so it was to prove. Jono extracted Boyd with his second ball, but Yasin, full of attacking shots, and the dependable Le Bas added 95 in 14 overs, making the task look very straightforward. Le Bas finished the match with a six with the scores level.
Hopefully, this performance was due to rustiness as 12 overs of batting by Jack and Matt was the team’s entire league experience of the season so far.
