Match report The U13B side put in a strong performance in the sweltering heat with the bat to ensure even with a below par fielding a bowling performance we got the win.
Rob and Tom opened the batting for us and started very well crashing regular boundaries, with some drives through cover and mid on the highlight from Tom. Rob needed 19 to reach the 100 run mark for the season and after he reached the milestone he opened his shoulders too, scoring very freely. After Tom retired Oscar came to the crease and started cautiously and played a good role in the new partnership by rotating the strike well. After Rob retired captain Elliott came to the crease and added to boundary count. Oscar then was out attempting a delicate ramp shot which brought Ollie out to the middle and the pair didn’t give away any chances with most of the runs coming in boundaries in this partnership. At the end of our innings we finished on 176-1 with Elliot on 24* and Ollie getting his highest score ever of 20*.
We then went out to defend our total and started well with both our opening bowlers Talitha and Harrison swinging the ball and creating problems for the batsmen with no avail until the last ball of Talitha’s spell where she bowled a beautiful in-swinger to the left hander to bowl them and in Harrison’s last over after 3 dot Jacob and Ged came on as our first change bowlers and there was no let up as both took wickets and found the edge numerous times. Oscar was next to bowl and again like our openers swung the ball with good pace and trapped their number 5 plum LBW. Elliot then bowled and kept things tidy as did Rob and Ollie to ensure we got a good win. Well done to everyone who played and even though there was a few dropped catches it remained a very professional performance.
