Burridge v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Under 13A on Mon 01 Jul 2019 at 6pm
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won by 28 runs
Match report
Off to Burridge for the 13A’s and after losing the toss we were surprisingly put into bat in what looked like great conditions for Batting. Tom and Jack were reunited back at the top of the order for the first time this season and quickly set about getting the scoreboard moving. With short boundaries square of the wicket and a lightning fast outfield any shots that found a gap often found the boundary rope. Jacks innings was cut abruptly short after he missed a straight one but Tom who had been joined by Harrison E continued to score at a healthy rate. Six fours and lots of good running saw him retire with 35 off 27 balls. Ryan joined H and carried on his fine form this season before an unfortunate mix up saw him run out when going well. Ollie joined H but at this point the runs dried up somewhat, after Ollie was out after not getting back in his crease quick enough, Tom Rait added some quick runs and H retired on the last all of the innings after battling to a gritty and deserved 35. At the end we had 159 for 4 and although we were maybe 25 runs short of where we should have been it was still an impressive total to defend. Tom and Jack opened the bowling and despite going past the bat on a number of occasions and both having chances dropped they both finished wicketless after the first 4 overs. Harrison E and Ryan both took a wicket each before the junior members of the team took control of the match. A wicket each for Ollie and Elliot were extremely well deserved for bowling great lines and it was a pleasure to see both boys bowling with confidence. Joint bowlers of the match for us were Harrison Milne and Jacob who both bowled the best spells I have seen either of them bowl and they more than deserved the two wickets each they took. The game was over before their 20 overs were up and we had won by 28 runs. Well done boys, just make sure we concentrate in the field for the whole match
