Burridge v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Under 9A on Sun 12 May 2019 at 10am
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won 117 runs

Match report A lovely sunny morning and the 9A's were on the road for match against Burridge. The team were full of enthusiasm and ready to continue their positive start to the season. We faced an inexperienced Burridge team and ultimately this was to prove decisive in the outcome of the game. Skipper for the day was Jacob and after an extended game of rock, paper scissors it was Burridge who elected to bat first. We started well despite not taking many wickets early on and whilst the leg side boundary was very short we did a good job of limiting the hitting opportunities out there. After the halfway mark we really warmed to our task and the wickets started to flow. It was one each for Gia and Sam, a pair for Jacob and Thomas ( including a great catch from Indie ) and special mention for bowler of the day Ryan, he finished with 4 wickets for 5 runs including a 3 wicket maiden.
Into bat and we were chasing a total of 105 runs from a starting point of 50 for the 10 wickets we took. If we could look after our own wickets then a victory was sure to be in our grasp. Sam and Indie opened up and made a fantastic opening duo. Indie batted sensibly and with authority whilst Sam found plenty of gaps all around the wicket and hit five 4's on his way to 28 not out. Ryan and Charlie in next and more positive batting and running without losing a wicket saw us into the lead and only a glut of wickets for them could stop us winning now. Will and Thomas carried on the good work and ran well with each other when facing a some somewhat wayward bowling. Only 2 wickets down and a healthy lead meant it was time for some fireworks with our last pair. Gia started the party cracking three 4's to that short legside boundary before Jacob took over and hit a further three 4's and one massive 6 that would have cleared the u13 boundary let alone the u9 one. All in all a comfortable 117 run victory with some excellent performances from all involved.
