Havant v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Under 9A on Sun 28 Apr 2019 at 10am
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won by 10 runs

Match report So with the Summer over we headed off to Havant Park in more usual early season weather. Despite the wind, our youngest guns put on a great display to kick things off. Two very well matched sided ended up with the scores absolutely level (on 77 runs) and it was only when we tallied up the wickets (worth a further 5 runs a piece) that we emerged on top.
Skipper Ryan won the toss and chose to bat first. The Wheeler twins were our first pair and managed their 4 overs with a good understanding of running getting us up to 23. Both however were bowled with the low bouncing ball causing the trouble. Next up Owen and Tom repelled everything that came their way and while Tom was beaten by the pace of their best bowler they took us up to 39. Indie and Charlie took the plaudits for being the only pair not to lose a wicket - and in the scheme of things this proved pretty vital - seeing our score advance to 55. The final pairing of Will and Ryan went got us into a great position entering the last two overs as their main bowlers came back. Losing two wickets in two balls to very good deliveries focused our players minds and they nicked 3 singles off their quick man to see us close on a very competitive 77 - 5.
With the ball in hand we put in a great performance bowling our opponents 5 times and effecting 2 run outs! Ryan, Will and Owen taking a ball each to warm up before we took wickets, Tom a ball longer and Jacob a ball less! Although Charlie and Indie didn't get a mark in the wickets column both bowled plenty of dots to challenge the batters. On the second rotation of the bowlers, wickets were a little harder to come by. But, just as Havant were looking comfortable in their chase Tom snuck one past one of their RPC players. With things still in the balance Sam's tight final over was rewarded with a wicket and Jacob closed things out with a good straight final over.
So for those interested in the final analysis: we scored 77 and had 7x5 runs added for our wickets taken - total 112 and Havant ended on 77 plus 5x5 runs total 102.
Whatever the result - a really good start by all. On today's performance, it looks like we've lots of good cricket to look forward to.
