Match report A sunny Locks Heath afternoon greeted us and we were invited to bat first. Oliver and Indie led the way with a 29 run partnership, in the main due to extras but they did well to preserve their wickets. Next, the big hitting pair of Ellis and Joe advanced our score by 26 runs (both hitting a 4 each) tempered only by the former hitting his wicket and the later being bowled. After their last game we were expecting great things from the calling and running of Abbie and Sanna. They didn't quite rise to levels they did last time but were still our most positive pair. However, a really good last couple of overs from the opposition kept a lid on the scoring and snaffled a couple of wickets. We closed with 74 runs to our name but had lost 4 wickets (worth 20 runs to Locks Heath).
Each of our bowlers put in a performance markedly better than their last matches - and everyone's second over today was better than their first - which is really positive. With Indie finishing with a maiden we had managed to keep the score absolutely level at 74 each - however, with our not taking any wickets we stayed at 74 while Locks Heath went up to 94, running out winners.
Although we didn't take wickets I thought our bowling was great. What we might work on though is moving to hit wider balls, generally hitting the ball with more confidence and of course getting our running between the wickets going. Lots to think about but still loads of positives.
