Havant v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Under 13A on Tue 14 May 2019 at 6pm
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Lost by 17 runs

Match report An away day for the 13A's and a trip to face a strong looking Havant side. Fielding first we set about our task with some real zip from our opening bowlers Tom and Elliott. Unfortunately a strong opening partnership from the batters and some slack fielding on our part led to a healthy start and zero wickets after 4 overs. A change of bowlers brought a change of luck and Jack took 2 in 2 balls taking out one of the openers and then removing middle stump of the dangerous number 3 for a golden duck. Harrison next and he turned the ball sideways and their number 1 could only look on in disbelief as the top of off was clipped after the ball pitched on leg. Into the middle order and we continued to bowl well without always backing it up with our fielding and as a consequence their score continued to rise. Ryan took a wicket with a lovely delivery before Talitha came on and accounted for the dangerous number 5 ably assisted by James with the catch. Tom back on and he was too quick for the number 6 who chipped one back to him and a run out meant we had taken a solid 7 wickets but they had scored a decent 143.
Into bat and Tom and James opened up with a good deal of promise, 19 scored off the first over with Tom looking in good nick and scoring quickly. A maiden in the second slowed things down and then their main strike bowler ( Aiken ) came on to cause havoc. First to go was Tom who got one that got big off a good length and was out C&B. Harrison was next back in the hutch after being bowled and Ryan followed after getting a Yorker that was too hot to handle. Finn and James added a few before Finns middle stump was sent cartwheeling by Aiken again and James dragged a wide one on from the spinner. We were in trouble now and when Harrison Milne went for a duck it looked forlorn. A great partnership from Jack and Elliott 30 and 22 apiece gave us a bit of a chance and a really good 12 not out from Talitha made the game close. Unfortunately great bowling from Aiken who finished with 4 for 13 off 4 and the fact we probably allowed them to get 20 more runs than they should have done meant we ended up a little short despite a great effort. Better luck next time guys.
