Match report And so it starts, on a predictably damp and chilly evening our senior 13s began their season with a strong win over Locks Heath. Putting our visitors in we controlled the scoring rate well despite our collection of extras growing more than we would like (the slippy ball would not have helped). Fielding already looks a notch up on last year's efforts with direct hits coming from all angles. While we didn't take the wickets we might have hoped, it wasn't until the last couple of overs when their bigger lads opened their shoulders that the scoreboard really rattled. Nevertheless, with two of their top three retiring it was a decent performance from the visitors.
With the gloom gathering we started our innings and Jack and James played their hands to vitural perfection. In. The face of some pretty hostile bowling they fluently and occasionally violently found the ropes. With both deservedly retired, we had a bit of a wobble but Rob, who pulled their fast man, and Ryan with some real style and grit saw us home, cutting the winning boundary with more than 3 overs to spare.
A great start. All the players look comfortable despite a number playing up.
