Match report The boys secured a well-deserved win on a sweltering evening at a picturesque Broxhead Common.

Batting first, the Petersfield opening bowlers were causing problems with some swing and seam movement. Umar had edged through first slip twice in a row so it was little surprise when the bowler got another to move away and the nick was taken by the keeper. Cam came in at 3 and batted patiently with Lenny as they tried to see off the opening spells. When Cam was bowled for 8, Ben came to the middle and together with the skipper they began to build a partnership that would be key to the game. They listened to advice about taking their time and batting their overs, as the home team were giving us plenty of extras, whilst working the singles and keeping the scoreboard moving. With 5 overs to go they began to open their shoulders and accelerated the scoring before Lenny fell for a super 31. Tom came in with a licence to swing the bat and did just that, and he and Ben took us to 109/4 from our 20 overs, apparently a good score on this ground.

Lenny and Cam opened the bowling and made a good start, restricting Petersfield to just 7 off the first two overs. The pressure was beginning to tell and a wicket each in the next two overs saw off both openers. Our fielding was good as usual but the bowling was a little inconsistent and like the home team, we were conceding extras to the total. However ,the boys stuck at it and kept their belief that they would take wickets. Ben added to his runs with a wicket and then the 'Harrisons' show took over, Etherington bamboozling the batsmen with some impressive spin and even more impressive figures of 3/2 and Milne bowling one and having a 'controversial' stumping after some quick thinking by Tom. That left the last man standing with 30 needed but nerves were jangling as it was reduced to 14. Lenny came back for a third over and produce a lovely delivery that nipped back in from outside leg stump, bowling the bemused Petersfield man behind his legs, and the win was ours.

A good performance all round on a hot evening at a tricky venue.

Umar - a quiet day with bat and ball but his fielding and confidence lifts the other lads

Lenny - Captain's performance when we were up against it. Lead by example with bat and ball today. MOM.

Cameron - Bowled really well and was patient with the bat when it was much needed, top fielding as ever

Tom - A top cameo to get our score over 100, good stumping

Ben - Batted really well in a crucial partnership with Lenny

Harrison M - Bowled well at the older boys, deserved his 2 wickets

Harrison E - Great flight and turn, the batsmen had no idea how to play him

Jacob - another playing above his age group, he is one of our best fielders

Elliot - Playing well above his age group, stepped in to help out and did a great job
